In this set there are free programs that will allow you to add light effects to your photos. The programs are easy to use and don't require much experience in the field of image editing. Many of them also support many other image editing tools, features and effects.

RGB Light allows you create light effects for pictures as if you were using real lighting equipment. The program has three channels. Each channel corresponds to an RGB color (red, green, and blue), the combination of three channels can make amazing effects. You can swap channels to obtain different effects.

Pros:

Cons:
  • It doesn’t have a button to create a new project, but you can exit and run again the program to create a new one.

With Light Artist we can add lights to our images and transform them in beautiful photos. When we open the program we can find a menu bar, one toolbar, a panel with a preview image and two tags, one window for see our photo transformed. Finally when we make click in the Process button we get our work done, but can click in the original image button and return to the original photo.

  • Can apply the effects in the preview image and change the light sources, change the ambient light.

MyPaint focuses on offering a large variety of settings for each brush, filter, layer or any other tool that it offers, and as far as I’m able to tell, they seem to work properly. Moreover, an interesting tool that I enjoyed is the Scratchpad. It is a small window that lets you test your brushes after customizing them. If you’re happy with the results, you can proceed to the working area.
